How to set up your own VPN (Openvpn) server in minutes
After setting up my own cloud on a scaleway VPS, I decided that it would be a good idea if I also set it up as a VPN server.
The first time I needed a VPN server, was when after years working from home, I got an office based job. I wanted some privacy with regards to my smartphone browsing (using their wireless connection), so I found this amazing script:
How to set up your own cloud using Nextcloud on Archlinux
Note: this post was updated at 2020-01-21 to ensure compatibilty with latest Nextcloud 18 and PHP 7.4
After writing this post regarding how I use my todo.txt file, I realized that it was time to set up a Nextcloud server (again) the soonest possible so that I will be aple to stop relying on proprietary services like Dropbox.
All I needed was:
a VPS (I chose one from Scaleway ) a domain (I already had one used with my previous nextcloud server - I just modified the DNS entries) 1 hour to install everything and fine-tune them Although being an Archlinux user for more 10 years, when it’s time to set up a server for something more “crucial”, I usually choose Debian.
